What's for lunch ?

How's this for a side dish? We had these delish potatoes with cheese, tomato, caramelized onion, basil (from the garden!) and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. yum :) and it was all done in the microwave hehe. This would also work well as a quick snack, it takes like 15 min to make.

Uncle Russel comes to TEA

Apparently, this one hundred-year old recipe has never been altered. wow! i'm so honoured to have been given the recipe. i will treasure it always. delish !

Look at this cutie! this was after phillip and i left plett, and Rachel walked around the house asking where we were. ahh man. Rachel is my sister Candice's little girl. and she has another one on the way :) exciting..

ooly the owl / phillip's sand bag

this is a sandbag i made for phillip's arm, as part of his physio treatment. in case you guys didn't know, phillip was in an accident a while ago and broke his elbow. so i'm posting this because i am excessively proud of my sewing achievement. so much so that i sewed buttons onto the sandbag and drew a mouth. phillip doesn't mind either way, so long as it helps his arm :)

UNISA...

Well, this is it. i am now a unisa student studying psychology. my courses are zulu (super convenient seeing as though no one speaks anything else around here), criminology, ethics, anthropology and social work. my first assignment is due in Feb already (!) and my exams start in May. i have two puppies to keep me company while i graft away. right now they're sleeping on my feet.

Here's Kanyo, my vegetable model showing off my produce :) I have a whole patch of these babies, so i think carrot soup is on the way. delish! soup is the easiest thing in the world to make. it's just butter, an onion, your veggies of choice and 2 cups of stock- let it simmer for ages (don't burn it!) and then liquidize. add lots of yummy cream. 

Struan's pooool :)

ok, so this pool was green up until Struan and his brother Lyle got to work on it. had the most awesome swim yesterday! the dogs loved it! woohoo :) so chuffed. thanks Struan !

Beans, beans and more beans !!

ok, so I know being excited about beans is quite weird. but hello people I grEw these beans! Here's my constant companion/house keeper Kanyo washing them after the harvest :) she also took home a hefty load of these ginormous specimens.

the carrots are looking extremely promising, so watch this space! who knew veggies could be so exciting.

Button goes on an adventure!

today Milo and I showed Button the damn. Milo had a good swim, and Button tried her very best to see the damn through the long grass.

This is one of my favourite places to sit and enjoy my life, and meet with God. It's so peaceful. We're building a new mill near here this year. I'm praying that it doesn't disrupt the awesomeness of our side of the farm. :/

You see that little black ball to the right of Milo? that's Button trying to jump up onto the grass side of the road, and failing miserably! shame, poor thing, she is so tiny!

At home Milo and Button getting a well deserved breakfast. Button has a huge appetite for such a tiny thing! As I type she is fast asleep on my feet, and Milo has passed out on the welcome mat. I think Button is going to be very happy here.

Our little family

Here are my two boys, and the newest addition to our family: Button! Isn't she just the cutest ! We're very chuffed to have two labs, cuz they are the best dogs! thanks to Roxy and William, and of course their lab Chloe for doing such a good job with the puppies.
