What I get up to out here...

Hi guys. Phillip and I have now been married for a year and 8 months. So for all you people out there who are curious to see how my life has turned out so far, here you have it :

Phillip recently bought us a car that I zip around in. Stuff I do during the week : On a Monday I do housework and admin. I do my grocery shop which takes half the day because everything is so far away ! On a Tuesday and Thursday morning I do boot camp with bunch of other farm wives, after which I help out at the local play group for toddlers and study (I'm doing a psychology degree through Unisa). On a Wednesday I attend bible study which is half the day and then Phil and I go to touch rugby and squash at the 'Shell Hole' where Phillip gets his exercise and I sit by the bar and enjoy the 'mood setters' haha. On a Friday I usually visit someone for tea and help Phillip out with the odd office admin like fetching and dropping post and writing out the weekly meeting agenda. I do my unisa work when ever I have spare time.

On Friday nights we frequent the 'Bow and Fish' Pub. This is where many hilarious and embarrassing memories have been made already.

Once a month I go to ladies book club (where the books don't feature nearly as  much as other things which I won't mention here), art lessons and the Mckenzie Club Supper. All these things guaranty that I see people all the time, which if you know me, is mandatory for survival :) I'm happy to say that I've made quite a few special friends out here and that I'm starting to feel like part of the community.
I make lunch for Phil and I everyday, and I do a fair amount of baking. I have quite a passion for cooking. Phil is even thinking seriously about sending me on a course ! Exciting. There are a few places in the surrounding areas that serve food and baked goods, like the 'Stumble Inn' and the 'Lemon Tree' in Underberg, and 'Blackwood Nursury' on the way to Pietermaritzburg. I'm thinking that maybe one day I'll open something myself. Although once I'm a qualified counselor (aiming for that to happen by the end of 2015), I'm going to want to apply for a job in that line of work. So we'll see.
I also enjoy supporting my husband and his team during cricket season.

And so there you have it. In the words of my wise sister in law Roxy Anderson when someone asked her what we do : "Our husbands are farmers. We just bugger around."

Well said Rox! What lucky ladies we are :) I can't wait to start a family in this beautiful, peaceful place. :)

lots of love
Rosie
